Design and Craftsmanship: The Leviathan Axe is a two-handed war axe. It's expertly crafted with ornate Norse designs. Its appearance is rugged, embodying the aesthetics of the Norse world, with detailed runic engravings.
Origin: The axe was forged by the Huldra Brothers, Sindri and Brok, who are the best blacksmiths in all of the Nine Realms. They made it for Kratos upon the request of his wife, Faye, who was revealed to be a giant. The axe was made to be the counterpart to Thor's hammer, Mjölnir.
Magic Abilities: The Leviathan Axe has the capability to channel ice and frost-based magic. Kratos can throw the axe with immense force and then summon it back to his hand, similar to how Thor summons Mjölnir.
Upgrades: As the player progresses through the game, they can upgrade the Leviathan Axe to enhance its combat capabilities, add new abilities, and alter its appearance. Upgrades are done with materials found throughout the game and with the help of the Huldra Brothers.
Runic Attacks: These are special moves that Kratos can equip on the Leviathan Axe. They come in two types: light runic attacks and heavy runic attacks. When activated, these attacks can unleash powerful elemental effects and devastating combos.
Usage: Throughout the game, the Leviathan Axe is not only used in combat but also in solving environmental puzzles. Its ability to be thrown and recalled becomes integral to navigating the world and accessing new areas.
Symbolism: The axe holds sentimental value for Kratos as it is closely tied to the memory of his late wife, Faye. It's also symbolic of his journey in the Norse realm and his efforts to leave behind the cycle of violence that defined his existence in the Greek pantheon.
In "God of War," the Leviathan Axe quickly became iconic, with its design and capabilities setting it apart from the Blades of Chaos that Kratos wielded in previous games. It serves as a representation of Kratos' new chapter in a different mythology and the evolved gameplay mechanics of the 2018 game.26 Sep 2023, 13:46
